John Massey
Chairman
Independent non-executive Chairman since July 1998, Chairman of the Remuneration and Nominations Committees and member of the Audit Risk and Compliance Committee.
John became a full-time Company director in 1997, and brings to the Board his extensive and broadly based commercial experience, leadership and strategic development skills developed over many years as a Chairman, Director and CEO spanning many industries. He is currently Chairman of Cardno Limited and the KR Castlemaine Foods Group. Previous appointments include CEO of Grainco, QDL Pharmaceuticals and Thomas Cook. Previous directorships include Northstate Capital, The Kerwee Pastoral Group, Globex, Day Dawn, Darling Downs Foods, AV Syntec, Australian Institute of Company Directors and Dairy Australia Limited .

Colin Sutton PhD
Managing Director and CEO
Appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in November 2003 and a member of the Nominations Committee. Colin Sutton has more than 20 years experience in the successful international commercialisation of implantable medical devices.
Before joining Ventracor in 2003, he was CEO of SIRTeX Medical Limited where he directed the successful rapid commercialisation of its revolutionary liver cancer treatment in local and overseas markets.
Prior to this he was Director Asia Pacific for Air-Shields Inc, a Philadelphia based manufacturer of neonatal equipment, where he was responsible for sales in the region. Before joining Air-Shields he had an 18-year career with Telectronics Limited, a manufacturer of implantable pacemakers, defibrillators and other medical devices. Commencing in 1975 as International Marketing Executive, he later held various chief executive positions in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe covering marketing, research and development, manufacturing and clinical affairs. Colin was appointed to the board of various companies within the Telectronics Group and was a member of the Executive Committee. Colin holds a PhD from the School of Chemical Engineering, University of New South Wales, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Life Member of the University NSW Sports Association. He is a non-executive director of Unisearch Limited and has served on various other public company boards.

Peter Crosby
Chief Operating Officer
Peter Crosby has more than 20 years' experience in the global commercialisation of cardiac medical devices. He has served as CEO of four medical device companies in three countries and is a dual citizen of Australia and the USA. Before joining Ventracor he was President and CEO of Ischemia Technologies, a US-based company, which has developed a new diagnostic test for cardiac ischemia.
He is a board member of automatic external defibrillator maker Cardiac Science Inc (NASDAQ:DFIB) and Chairman of CardioComm Solutions Inc, a Canadian developer of software and internet solutions for ECG management. Mr Crosby has participated in the origination of 16 US patents in the field of medical devices and diagnostics and authored numerous papers on biomedical engineering topics.
From early 1996, he was the President and CEO of Seattle-based NeoVision Corporation, a development stage medical device company working in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, which was sold in 1997 to US Surgical Corp. Until 1995, he held leadership positions at Telectronics Pacing Systems, a developer and manufacturer of cardiac pacemakers and implantable defibrillators, which was sold to St Jude Medical in 1995. Prior to that he was CEO of Ausonics Limited in Sydney and was one of the pioneering team of Cochlear. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science from the University of Melbourne in Australia.

Ross Harricks
Non-Executive Director
Independent non-executive director since November 2004. Mr Harricks, has extensive international medical device experience. He is founder and Chief Executive Officer of AtCor Medical Pty Ltd, an Australian cardiovascular medical device company active in the USA and Europe.
Mr Harricks was a Director of ResMed for five years until 1995. Prior to this he was with the Nucleus Group having joined in 1983 as Group Marketing Executive responsible for international markets and was based in the USA from 1985. He was previously general manager of EMI Medical Pty Limited. Mr Harricks has experience building a successful medical equipment distribution business in the USA as President of one of the Nucleus Group medical equipment subsidiaries. He holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD) in France.

John Ward

Independent non-executive director since August 2001, Chairman of the Audit Risk and Compliance Committee and member of the Nominations Committee.
John is a professional company director and management consultant. He was formerly Managing Director and Chief Executive of Qantas Airways Limited. This was the culmination of a 25-year career with the airline in a variety of corporate and line management roles covering Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. Subsequent to that, he spent seven years at News Corporation where his focus was primarily on the development and commercialisation of convergence opportunities in media, technology and communications. His previous directorships include Tourism NSW.
He is also an Honorary Life Governor of the Research Foundation of Information Technology, Chairman of Transonic Travel Limited, a Director of Adelaide Airport Limited and Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited.

Dr Katherine Woodthorpe

Katherine is an independent consultant assisting research institutions and technology companies with their commercialisation strategies. Katherine is a director of Insearch Limited, Australian Cancer Technologies Limited, Sustainable Tourism Holdings, The Warren Centre and Chairman of Cooperative Research Centre for Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems. She is a member of Council of University of Technology, Sydney and Director of Environmental Biotechnology CRC Limited. Her previous roles include CEO of the Technology Industries Exporters Group, Deputy Chairman of the Australian Business Foundation and Director of Agenix Limited.

Elizabeth Nosworthy AO

Elizabeth is a lawyer and a former partner of national legal firm Freehills. She had more than 20 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer before she left the law in 1995 to follow a career as a full-time non-executive director. Elizabeth currently holds a number of directorships of public and private sector organisations. These include Deputy Chairwoman of Babcock & Brown Limited, and Chairwoman of Commander Communications Limited and Stanwell Corporation Limited.
She is also a director of GPT Management Limited and a Council Member of the National Gallery of Australia. Previous appointments include directorships of Telstra Corporation Limited, David Jones Limited, Australian National Industries Ltd, Queensland Treasury Corporation, Port of Brisbane Corporation, Australia TradeCoast and Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited. She is currently an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Queensland and is a former Council Member of the Australian National University. Elizabeth is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and winner of the AICD (Qld Division) 2001 Gold Medal Award for an Outstanding Director.

Dr John Woodard

John has 18 years cardiovascular device experience, 14 of which involved engineering and clinical aspects of four other ventricular assist devices. He has numerous publications and patents in the field. John is an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering at the University of NSW and holds an honorary appointment at the Monash Medical School, Melbourne. John is an accredited representative for Australia at the International Standards Organisation.
